Easter in the Lake District

The Lake District is the place you want to be this Easter, where there’s chocolate, daffodils, bluebells and gamboling lambs, too. Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway has come up with a pleasant surprise for those who’d go the Lake district and anybody who guesses the weight of the Easter egg it commissioned get’s a prize – a giant Easter egg and every traveler is given free entry to the contest.

This year like always Beatrix Potter will still be running its Easter Egg hunt; a hundred Easter Eggs will be hidden around the lake and on the April 21 clues on where the eggs are will be distributed and whoever finds one will get a prize. In case it rains the Keswick Pencil Museum is putting up various events for the children. An Easter trail and other creative activities for families will be featured too.

Muncaster Castle is preparing for E Royal Weing weekend and Easter and it’s putting up a flower festival based on Easter themes. John Crouch will put up some cooking demonstrations relating to the flower and Easter themes. Strolls within the castle grounds are also worth taking with the gardens abounding with bluebells and other spectacular sights.

At Mirehouse, there is also the traditional Easter Quiz and clues are scattered and secreted around the garden, it does not matter whether you are big or small, you will love the treasure hunt. Sammy the Squirrel is organising some family fun activities in Ullswater Steamers as well as an Egg hunt to be held in Glenridding.

Last but definitely not least The National Trust in partnership with Cadbury is having their own Easter Trails in Ennerdale and Borrowdale which promise to be good. The Lake District has numerous cottages where you can base your family for a fun-filled the Easter holidays.
