Muncaster Castle offers a great day out for the whole family

If you are looking for a great day out that is going to be suitable for the whole family then it would be a good idea to head to Muncaster Castle. This is an incredible building that is set in around 70 acres of wonderful gardens which are also home to the famous World Owl Centre. Children will also love the fact that it has a maze, which is regarded as one of the most innovative outdoor mazes in the country.

This building can be found between the Lake District Fells and the Irish Sea. Many people regard this part of the country as one of the most dramatic landscapes and the whole of Europe. There are soaring mountains here as well as ancient woodlands and exploring the surroundings is an incredible opportunity as well.

This castle was originally the home of the family called the Pennington’s and they last inhabited it at the beginning of the 13th century. If you are interested in antiques and darts then you will be fascinated by the contents of this castle.

There are claims by the superstitious that this castle is haunted by various ghosts, including one who is called Tom Fool. While many people might be sceptical of these claims, there are definitely some strange events that have occurred in the castle over the years which would give rise to a rumour of a haunting.

If you are particularly interested in owls then visiting the Owl Centre is going to be a great opportunity. There are a wide range of different owls here which come in all different shapes and sizes.
